We are a non-profit organization aimed to teach students programming and problem-solving skills. Registration for the 2023 July session is now open!

Purpose

Through AcademiaEdge we hope to provide an alternative to expensive programming classes by offering completely free, accessible, and high-quality coding courses.

Created By

High Schoolers and University Students who strive to make education more equitable. We have advanced expertise in web development and programming, as well as a passion for education and learning.

Values

We promise to be responsible for the students we teach, giving them the highest quality education possible. Our course instructors are selected through a vigorous interview process. We value integrity, privacy, and honesty in our classes and workplace.

Structure

In order to give an individualized experience, each class has two teachers and may be limited to 10-15 students. Each class will be held weekly over Zoom with course materials posted in Google Classroom. Once a course is full a waitlist will be created.

  • Free! We are a non-profit organization, and our main goal is to make computer science education accessible and equitable.

  • Anyone! Our classes are free making it accessible for anyone and everyone to get involved in computer science or learn a new programming language.

  • All classes for the 2022 June session are virtual. AcademiaEdge is planning to officially open in-person classes to students in the near future, so stay tuned for updates!

  • Our classes are over Zoom and we use generally Google Classroom to post class materials, assign homework, and make important announcements. Teachers may individually have classroom environment preferences which we will try to accomodate, but all additional course information will be announced in advance.

  • Yes, we are always looking to find new teachers and organizers for AcademiaEdge. If you are interested with partnering with us please visit the Join Us page!

  • Our courses are focused on programming and coding. We offer a variety of computer science related courses. For more information regarding the courses that we offer, please visit the Courses page!

  • Currently, we offer 5 unique and well-crafted courses and are always looking towards expanding our selection. For each session, we incorporate a few past courses and introduce at least one new course!

  • Our classes range from 45 minutes to an hour long.

  • For most weeks, teachers will post homework which students are expected to complete and submit. In the following week, the teacher will grade and go over the homework in class. In some instances, teachers may not directly give a new assignment for a certain week, rather, they may assign the student to review over past course material.
